Graf von Faber-Castell The Aztecs 2022 Fountain Pen of the Year

Limited Edition, only 375 being produced!

Each limited edition of Graf von Faber-Castell's Pen of the Year commemorates a culture that has inspired and shaped the history of humankind. They are not only pens, but remarkable works of art.

The Pen of the Year 2022 is inspired by the culture, aesthetics and religious rites of the Aztecs. The Aztec Empire was an alliance of three city-states in modern-day Mexico and spanned from 1428-1521. They created impressive works of art and had their own modern political system.

The metal body has an anthracite-grey diamond-like carbon coating. The barrel of the pen is decorated with a skull pattern inspired by the walls made of rows of skulls in the Templo Mayor - a temple where the Aztecs performed some of their most sacred rituals and ceremonial activities.

The grip section is made from dark, smooth obsidian. The Aztecs believed obsidian could protect them again evil spirits and often made arrowheads and swords from this volcanic rock.

A turquoise stone engraved with the image of an eagle is embedded in the end caps and the cap is grooved to be reminiscent of the shape of a cactus.

The nib is made from 18K magnum gold and is coated with black ruthenium. The pen is filled using the in-built plunger mechanism with bottled ink.

Each pen is presented in a black, polished wooden case. Each pen is uniquely numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Approx. Length: 135.6mm; Weight: 83g.
